Numa triste manhã de verão, sob uma chuva forte que banhava a cidade, seguia o cortejo morosamente rumo ao cemitério. Dentro da urna, um jovem de quinze anos, vítima de um acidente de carro em vésperas de carnaval, sepultava todos os sonhos de adolescente que ainda despertavam.
Fora tudo muito rápido, e explicações não caberiam e nem existiriam para desvendar os mistérios de Deus.
O carro trafegava responsavelmente pela estrada que leva ao interior mineiro. Dentro dele, a irmã ao volante e o namorado ao seu lado. Atrás, o jovem e a namorada à sua direita.
Poucos minutos antes do acidente, ele se deita no colo da namorada, e, sem ensaiar e se inteirar da despedida que pouco tempo depois o atingiria, faz a declaração apaixonada: “vou te amar pra sempre, sabia?”. E então, surge a carreta. Como se viesse do nada. E a pancada. A forte pancada na cabeça. O escuro total. E, definitivamente, as páginas do livro da sua vida são fechadas. Foi o maior saldo negativo do acidente, pois, os outros passageiros tiveram pequenos ferimentos.
O pânico, a dor, o desespero se instalam na estrada. Polícia, ambulância, parentes. Uma parafernália de aparelhos, investigações, perguntas, providências… O velório. O rosto sereno de quem cumpriu sua missão, rodeado pelas lágrimas, pela desesperada busca de compreensão, pela eterna saudade…
Chega o momento final da separação física, porque as outras já foram confirmadas no momento do silêncio maior.
Uma forte chuva acompanha o cortejo até a cova aberta à espera do escolhido. De repente, o inusitado. A chuva para e, dentro da cova, um passarinho passeia livremente, como se estivesse recepcionando com alegria o seu mais novo hóspede. Os coveiros tentam retirá-lo, abanando as mãos. Porém, o pássaro alheio a tudo, pula com suavidade na terra, enquanto parece beijá-la com o bico. E, num breve espaço do instante, encanta o ar com seu delicado voo e, para surpresa de todos, pousa suavemente no ombro da mãe do jovem falecido.
Ainda inconsolada e em prantos, a jovem senhora contempla o pássaro que docemente se deixa pegar pelas mãos do sofrimento. A mulher beija a cabecinha da ave, como se tivesse entendido o consolo do Mestre, abre as mãos, numa atitude de agradecimento, e devolve aos céus o presente que lhe foi ofertado por quinze anos.
Em meio as várias coroas de flores que cobrem a terra, um passarinho repousa sobre um botão e convence os presentes de que o empréstimo foi saldado. Não há mais dúvida, nem dívida. A recompensa? O outro lado há de fornecer.
