Viraremos pó da mesma cor

Estou dentro do move lotado, com destino à Pampulha. Não consegui atravessar a roleta e paro ao lado da cobradora que conversa com o passageiro sentado à minha frente. Estou em pé. Antes de chegar à Estação Lagoinha, ela pergunta quem vai pagar com dinheiro. Sou uma delas e já garanto a passagem, sob a argumentação aos passageiros que precisa esconder o dinheiro, pois o ônibus sofreu um assalto ontem ou antes de ontem ao parar nessa estação.

Nessa estação, dois rapazes estão aguardando a abertura das portas para entrar no ônibus. O primeiro, ao colocar apenas um pé, é surpreendido pela arrancada leve do ônibus, pelo motorista, e grita: “Ô, motorista, você tá louco? Ainda não entramos, o meu irmão está atrás de mim.” Para a minha surpresa, o motorista começa a gritar uma série de desaforos e palavrões aos dois rapazes, que negam serem vagabundos, marginais, etc., etc.

Não satisfeito, o motorista, dirigindo, continua a desafiá-los e faz contato com os seguranças da próxima estação para recolherem os marginais. O ônibus para na estação e eu atravesso rapidamente a roleta, ao mesmo tempo que digo: “se eles forem, vou com eles. É injusto. Os rapazes não fizeram nada. Não vou deixá-los sozinhos nessa.”

Uma moça e um rapaz saem do ônibus comigo. Quatro seguranças armados os esperam, mas, antes que coloquem as mãos nos rapazes, entro na frente e explico que são inocentes. O motorista está ao meu lado e diz que os rapazes o ofenderam e não diz que ele os ofendeu e nem que colocou os passageiros em risco, dirigindo berrando e provocando os rapazes, além de acrescentar, olhando para mim: “é sempre assim, o passageiro é contra o motorista”. Um dos seguranças pede silêncio e quer me ouvir.

Explico a ele que entendo o estresse do motorista, a insegurança que vive diariamente, o cansaço, mas isso não dá a ele o direito de se empoderar por ser o condutor do ônibus e ter guarita para se defender, ofendendo os rapazes da forma que estava fazendo, muito menos pedir que eles sejam conduzidos pela polícia.

Um dos rapazes dá a mão ao motorista e lhe pede desculpas. O motorista não lhe pede desculpas.

Voltamos ao ônibus.

Os dois passageiros que desceram comigo disseram que me acompanharam porque “unidos somos força”. E eu fiquei pensando: sim, somos, mas em meio a mais de quarenta pessoas que presenciaram a injustiça, apenas três (considerados brancos) evitaram que ela acontecesse.

Não somos um país preconceituoso?

Os dois rapazes são negros. O motorista também.

O “muito obrigado” dos rapazes, dirigidos a mim, até na hora de descerem em seu destino, me engasgou, me entalou. Obrigado de quê? Vocês não fizeram nada, sou tão humana quanto vocês, vamos virar pó do mesmo jeito e, indubitavelmente, pó da mesma cor…
