Minas Gerais, terça-feira, às 23h30, Cybele, deitada cochilando no sofá em frente à televisão ligada, ensaia assistir ao filme “Jesus”. Subitamente é despertada pelos gritos do marido no quarto. Ainda meio tonta, encaminha-se para o quarto tentando empurrar as pernas que denunciam seus 68 anos de idade. Para estarrecida na porta ao ver o velho marido na janela arrebentada, lutando com o ladrão para impedi-lo de entrar na casa. Corre para a cozinha e busca a enorme faca na tentativa desesperada de salvar o marido que estava sendo enforcado pela “gravata” que o ladrão lhe dava. Tenta espetá-lo para que solte o seu marido, quando o ladrão lhe toma a faca sob os gritos do comparsa que estava do lado de fora da casa:
? Mata essa velha, anda! Mata ela!
Cybele dirige o olhar ao quintal e o homem lhe chama a atenção. Franzino, com a camisa lhe cobrindo a maior parte do rosto, ele não se aproximava. Ficava berrando ordens ao outro. Sua voz era familiar.
O ladrão ainda dominando Pedro, e com a faca na mão, gritava para Cybele ficar quieta e lhe passar o dinheiro. Ela lhe entrega os R$ 90,00 que estavam no quarto e suplica ao homem que solte o marido. O homem estava irado, suava muito, por nervosismo, ou pelo efeito de drogas.
Lembrou-se do filho doente, dormindo no quarto ao lado. O rapaz era uma criança, apesar dos 30 anos de idade e, sobressaltado, sentou-se na cama ao ouvir os gritos. Cybele aproveitando-se da exigência do ladrão por mais dinheiro, buscava pela casa aquilo que pudesse desarmá-lo, para que livrasse seu marido. De repente, a ideia! Entrou no banheiro, pegou o spray de barba, voltou rapidamente e borrifou meio frasco no rosto e olhos do ladrão. Atordoado e tentando se limpar, o sujeito deixa cair a faca e solta o velho, mas, refeito, segura Cybele e possesso lhe fala ao ouvido: “Fica quieta, senão te rasgo! ”
E o homem, lá fora, continua gritando:
? Mata ela, homem! Vamos, enfia a faca nela!
Porém, Cybele não tem medo e o ladrão dominando-a vai até o quarto do filho. Nisso, ela lhe suplica para que não toque nele. “É doente, coitadinho! ” Por um momento, o sujeito para, olha o rapaz e, consternado, repete: “Coitadinho! ”, mas volta-se nervoso e segurando o rapaz, berra por mais dinheiro: ? Quero o dinheiro, velha! Anda, senão ele morre!
Cybele lhe pede para soltar o filho. Fala que ele pode levar o que quiser, inclusive sequestrá-la, ou até matá-la, mas que deixe o marido e o filho em paz. Aí ele resolve remexer em tudo. E pega os CDs do rapaz e uma calça jeans novinha, e vai jogando tudo no chão, enquanto Pedro lhe dirige a palavra carinhosamente: “Filho, você não tem pai? ” Ele, amenizando a voz, diz que nunca o conheceu. E Pedro continua: “Filho, e onde está a sua mãe? ” E o sujeito responde que foi assassinada. E Cybele lhe dá carta branca pra levar tudo o que quiser, e que sigam em paz, que rezará por eles, estendendo-lhe três sacolas enormes para guardar o roubo. E ele vai colocando a televisão, o pequeno som e pega a bolsa dela e retira os últimos R$ 40,00 que lhes restam. E ela e o marido vão abençoando o ladrão enquanto ele vai roubando.
Já na saída, ela lhe diz:
? Vá com Deus, meu filho!
Ele se volta e chora. E chora como criança e abraça o velho ainda ferido pela luta dos dois: ” Perdão, vô, se te machuquei. ”
E ela passa a mão no rosto do ladrão e pede a ele que rogue a proteção de Deus e o abraça e ele chora enquanto tenta enxugar com a sua camisa o sangue que escorre do dedo dela, ferido pela faca que ele lhe arrancou à força. Ele se volta para o menino, abre uma das sacolas e lhe devolve o som e a calça jeans, repetindo: “Coitadinho, ele é doente! ”
Antes de passar pelo portão, volta-se e implora:
? Reza pra mim, vó. Reza que eu quero deixar essa vida!
E desaparece com o colega e as sacolas na carreta.
