Depois, Madalena retira-se do quarto e se dedica a seus afazeres domésticos solitariamente. Lava, passa, cozinha, enquanto o rádio reaviva suas lembranças ao tocar as músicas do seu passado.
À tarde, já livre de suas ocupações diárias, Madalena coloca Joana ao seu lado em frente à TV, enquanto a tarde se estende.
A noite cai.
Após o banho, Madalena ajeita o pijama em Joana e, logo, acomoda-a na cama.
Dá-lhe um boa-noite, reza e adormece novamente.
Nos dias sombrios em que Madalena se sente mais só, ela conversa mais com Joana.
