Noite fria de final de julho na capital mineira. Acordo mais de dez vezes para amparar a testa da minha filha que não para de vomitar. Confiro seguidamente a temperatura do seu corpo, constato que não há febre, e vou lhe dando soro. Pela manhã, ela consegue dormir.
Após o almoço, e ela à base de soro, sonolenta, cansada e fraca, apoia-se em mim para entrar no carro e ir ao hospital. Lá chegando, confiro o relógio: 14h. Pego senha, aguardo, dirijo-me ao guichê para a ficha, aguardo mais, até a médica nos atender. Relato os vômitos, e ela vai direto ao ponto: onde dói?
Apalpa a região abdominal, e a especialidade de clínica geral se resume a isso.
Senta-se diante do computador, solicita exame de sangue e urina, além de prescrever os medicamentos, e nos indica a sala para tal.
Sala ampla, com poltronas um pouco mais largas que a de aviões, conto 15, quatro vazias. Todos os pacientes com “acesso” na mão ou no braço. Confiro o relógio: 14h30.
Antes das 15h, o enfermeiro colhe o sangue e dirigimo-nos ao banheiro para colher a urina.
Na volta, o “acesso” no braço, que é menos dolorido. Duas bolsas: a menor com Dramin para o vômito, e Buscopan composto para a dor. Depois, a maior para hidratação.
Abro o meu livro (companheiro inseparável para qualquer coisa que me lembre ESPERA) e vou entrando na leitura, quando, aos poucos, vou entrando em sonolência pela noite maldormida. Fecho o livro, abro os ouvidos e os meus olhos passeiam pela sala e vejo três estações doentes: inverno, outono e verão. A minha filha é a única pertencente ao verão: 15 anos. Ali, a primavera não vigora. Com a exceção de dois idosos, eu e a minha filha que dorme, os outros mantêm o braço direito repousado com o “acesso” e o esquerdo apoiado no abdômen, com os dedos em constante movimento “acessando” o celular.
De frente a nós, uma mulher no outono, e outra no inverno: sua mãe. Conta à paciente ao lado, que a mãe estava assentada no sofá, em casa, e, ao se levantar, tropeçou no chinelo e caiu batendo a cabeça do lado direito da testa.
“Fiquei doidinha. Agora ela está bem, apenas aguardando o exame de tomografia. Vaso ruim não quebra, né, mãe?”
A mulher dirige o olhar à mãe que está sempre sorridente, e ameaça: “da próxima vez que você cair, mãe, eu vou te bater, para você deixar de me preocupar…”
Penso: que forma mais estúpida de ser carinhosa…
Meia hora depois, ela sai e retorna com um copo descartável com café com leite e um pão de queijo. Para em frente à mãe, toma um pouco do copo, entrega-o à mãe, e dá uma, duas, três mordidas no pão de queijo, enquanto a mãe mantém o outro braço estendido aguardando que ela lhe entregue. A filha, prestes a entregar o salgado, volta-o para a boca, enquanto lhe diz: “só mais um pedaço, tá mãe?”
E então eu vejo a mulher recolher menos da metade de um pequeno pão de queijo…
Rindo, a filha me olha e comenta: “toda vez que a levo para comer no restaurante, eu a deixo sentadinha e vou pôr a comida pra ela. Na volta, vou beliscando até chegar à mesa. Quando chego, o prato está pela metade…, mas ela come tudinho!!!!!!
Volto os meus olhos para outra senhora, já no início do inverno, confortavelmente, na poltrona, balançando uma das pernas cruzada sobre a outra, com o celular no ouvido, e esticando o outro braço para a enfermeira. Falando alto, conta que chegou ao aeroporto com a calcinha suja que até vazou na calça comprida, mas a mulher foi um encanto: lavou as calças e lhe entregou num saco plástico…
De repente, do outro lado da sala, um pouco distante, ouço um forte: PSIUUUUU!.
Viro o rosto e dou com outra no inverno, com o celular numa mão e o dedo da outra mão na boca, pedindo silêncio, sem olhar para a que falava alto.
Penso: será parente dela?
A outra diminui o tom, mas não se incomoda com a intrusa.
Pouco tempo depois, esta se levanta e vai até a “amiga”, passando uma ligação do seu celular.
A outra agradece e faz voz chorosa no celular, sem uma lágrima, agradecendo a “força”, e enfatizando que só não morreu porque Papai-do-Céu gosta muito dela…
De repente, um casal que estava no soro tem um acesso de riso, porque a mulher, ao trocar as pernas para ficar mais confortável, consegue mandar o sapato para longe…
E vejo a cor roxa das poltronas como azul-celeste…
Finalmente, a filha da mãe (sem maldade, leitor, pois, desconheço o nome dos pacientes) pergunta se pode me fazer uma pergunta PESSOAL.
Considerando a sala ampla e eu em frente a ela, conclui que seria PESSOAL/COLETIVA, mas concordei.
– Você está pensando em pintar o seu cabelo?
Respondi-lhe monossilabicamente: “Não”.
– Ah, bom!
E, então, ela acessou os seus conhecimentos cabeludos:
– É porque eu fiz um curso de visagismo, sabe? E, embora o cabelo branco para a maioria das mulheres passe uma imagem de descuido, e até de sujeira, porque parece que a pessoa não toma banho… igual barba de homem por fazer, sabe? Mas, no seu caso, não. Tô vendo, aqui, que, pelo seu tom de pele…, o cabelo branco fica bem em você.
Imediatamente, acessei minha lucidez ao concluir que ela fala uma coisa e pensa outra, mas ainda estou em dúvida se, quando deixar o hospital, devo entrar diretamente num salão de beleza…
